Packaging/ labeling

The incoming packaging of the used catalyst shall comply with the classification under which you declare the material. Usually used catalyst should be declared as ADR-UN 3190 SELF-HEATING SOLID, INORGANIC, N.O.S. (METALSULPHIDES), 4.2, II (D/E).

The finished product and related materials will be returned in the packaging to the address specified by the Customer.

OptimLine Technologies reserves the right to replace any packaging that does not meet the regulations of carriage dangerous goods (see ADR 2011). The defect information will be communicated to the Customer within the next working days together with the pre-job report.

Additional handling charges will be applied if the material is delivered in a non-compliant nature as listed below:

  • Unsafe un-strapped drums.
  • Un-palletized drums.
  • Broken or weathered pallets, which are unsafe to carry the given·· load.
  • Catalyst outside drums or bins.

The company will safely pack the spent catalyst prior to taking it into its warehouse, and will clean up the truckif needed. The Customer will be informed on the non-conformities upon arrival of the spent catalystat.


For good traceability, each individual container with used catalyst should at least have one label with the following information:

  • Type(s) of catalyst(s)
  • Reactor number from which the catalyst has been unloaded (each separate bed should be noted as well)
  • Individual sequential number for each drum or catalyst flow-bin
  • Unloading date
  • Gross weight and/or net weight of catalyst

When the material is declared as hazardous, then each individual container must also bear the appropriate hazard label and the corresponding UN identification number. ADR 5.2.1 .4 "Intermediate bulk containers of more than 450 liters capacity and large packaging shall be marked on two opposite sides".
